Every month I hope to blog at least one of my Flickr photos……This was taken last year (April 2009) and its incredible to think that this is only 3 miles from Liverpool City Centre. A view of my shed on our allotment (plot 8 ) Harthill, Calderstones Park. For me it sums up that early spring freshness and optimism. On the far right is Harthill Copse!
I love the lighting…..the shed looks like it’s almost set upon a stage awaiting for the actors to arrive…..and yet at the same time it evokes a timeless innocence reminisce of the 1930’s/40’s and recreated perfectly in the Dennis Potter play- Blue Remembered Hills. I think its the bicycle that does it…….I just love the double rainbow effect captured nicely by the lens.
This is currently the only shed at Harthill allotments….the committee is dead against them and only a few month earlier it was toppled over in protest and has been discribed by some allotment holders as “being ugly” and “looking like a sore thumb” How funny is that?
I’m really proud of this photo and not least because it’s been chosen to be exhibited at the new People’s Gallery, (National Museums, Merseyside) on the waterfront in 2011…..part of a montage of images in a section which looks at issues in the city.
The photo was taken using a Canon 400D Digital SLR with an EF-S 18-55mm lens.
