Spent a wonderful day today cycling through Sefton Park, on to the Cast Iron Shore and then to central Liverpool; The Albert Dock and Jessops Way and back again. The weather was just perfect…little wind and warm October sunshine.
I thought it was a good time to try out my new Hipstamatic camera!! WHAT???
Yes you heard that right……my NEW Hipstamatic Camera. Well actually it’s a new App for the Apple iphone & ipod touch and I’m totally smitten with it. Remember the days back in the 60’s when you’d pick up your little toy plastic camera…..(mine was a Kodak Instamatic) and then load it with analog film, shoot off a roll and take it to Boots Cast Chemist and wait about a week for it to come back….excited by the unexpected results.
Well with this App you can re-live them unexpected results only found in the toy cameras of yesteryear…….why would you want to do this I hear you ask……well ……..IT’S JUST SOOOO MUCH FUN!!!
This is the official description of the App:
Digital photography never looked so analog. The Hipstamatic brings back the look, feel, unpredictable beauty, and fun of plastic toy cameras of the past! The Hipstamatic keeps the quirks of shooting old school but gives you the ability to swap lenses, film, and flash settings all with the swipe of a finger.
The great thing about this app is the ability to customise the camera with different lens, film types and different flash lights….you can even customise the size of prints and every month there is even an on-line Hipstamatic Photo competition!
It’s just great fun and an unpredictable addition to your iphone or ipod touch; if your into photography like me your gonna love it 🙂
All these photos were taken on my ipod touch using my Hipstamatic App……I used a Lucifer VI lens and Blanko Film to achieve that 1968 toy camera look.
I’ll be blogging more on this as I experiment with other lenses and film combinations.
You can get more information on the Hipstamatic App at the Apple itunes store!
If you opened an old drawer and found snapshots from decades ago and they were taken with a cheap instamatic or a box brownie, then maybe the shots weren’t as perfect as we might expect them to be today, but there’s a quality to old photos that digitals seem to lack. Hipstamatic allows you to play with simulated lenses, film and flashes which produce a similar effect to your old photos.
If you’ve got an iPhone or iPod touch then get Hipstamatic, it’s just brilliant, you’ll love it.
