I decided to digitally restore this photograph of my grandmother Eleanor Rigby for publication in my forthcoming book. I did it in Photoshop CS3 and started by scanning the original into the computer in hi resolution. I then converted it to black and white and used a number of restoration tools (healing patch, spot healing brush and clone stamp) in Photoshop to remove tears, blemishes and dust marks.

I then added a tonal adjustment layer and a curves layer to adjust overall tone and contrast.

To colourise the image I used multiple hue and saturation layers in various colourised combinations and fine-tuned the image with layer masks and there you have it….a fully restored image of the REAL Eleanor Rigby….originally taken around 1948 in the yard at 105 Kemble Street, Prescot.

Are you sure that the picture is from 1948? because the grave says she died on October 10, 1939. I would like to take me out of that doubt. From already thank you very much. Leandro
